Abstract
  • As organizations increasingly integrate AI tools into the workplace, it is essential to understand the workforce to support knowledge-sharing initiatives, especially in multi-disciplinary departments focused on new product and process development. The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) is utilised in this study as the fundamental theory to conceptualise how attitude, social influence, and self-efficacy contribute to forming the intention to use AI at work, as well as how this intention impacts knowledge sharing behavior. Within this framework, the intention to use AI is viewed as a mediating variable in fostering collaborative knowledge practices in the R&D workforce. The proposed conceptual framework contributes theoretically by extending the TPB to include the intervention role of AI usage in knowledge sharing. Practically, the framework provides practical guideline for managers striving to capitalize on AI to enhance innovation capabilities in R&D-intensive organizations. Future research directions will help to offer a more comprehensive perspective on knowledge sharing behaviour in the current AI era, particularly in interdisciplinary collaboration environments.
