Abstract
  • Turnover implies the process in which employees leave an organisation and are subsequently replaced by new hires. The ongoing under-representation and high turnover of women in Quantity Surveying (QS) professions in the construction sector indicate systemic challenges concerning gender equity, organisational culture, and career advancement. People commonly face various difficulties in everyday life, especially related to their jobs. This will lead to less productivity of work and overall organizational performance. This study aim is to explore the causes of turnover intentions and job hopping among women quantity surveyors in order to minimise the impact to the employers of quantity surveying firms. A quantitative approach was employed in this study, with 144 questionnaires distributed to quantity surveyors at a consulting firm in Selangor in 76 completed responses. The data were subsequently analysed using SPSS Version 26. The objective of this study is to examine the causes of turnover intention and job hopping among women quantity surveyors. The result reveals that working environment is the main causes that make people either leave or stay in the company. Lack of all essential amenities like poor ventilation, narrow workspace and furniture and work pressure causes a lot of stress. Thus, this study identified job satisfaction and turnover intention relationship and giving further suggestions for prevention alternatives.
