Abstract
  • Tujuan pertama kajian ini ialah untuk mengetahui hubungan di antara kecerdasan emosi dengan tekanan kerja dan niat berhenti kerja dari profesion perguruan. Kedua, ia bertujuan melihat interaksi empat elemen dalam kecerdasan emosi: kesedaran kendiri, pengurusan kendiri, kesedaran sosial dan kemahiran sosial ke atas dua pembolehubah tekanan kerja dan niat berhenti kerja. Sejumlah 1200 orang guru dari 60 buah sekolah di Malaka, Perak dan Pulau Pinang dipilih sebagai responden kajian ini yang telah dijalankan pada pertengahan tahun 2007. Satu set soal selidik yang terdiri daripada: Emotional Competence Inventory (ECI) untuk mengukur kecerdasan emosi, Occupational Stress Indicator (OSI) untuk mengukur tekanan kerja dan Propensity To Leave Index (PLI) untuk mengukur niat berhenti Profesion perguruan telah digunakan. Dapatan kajian melalui analisis korelasi Pearson menunjukkan kecerdasan emosi mempunyai hubungan yang positif dan signifikan dengan niat berhenti dari profesion perguruan. Sebaliknya, terdapat hubungan negatif tetapi signifikan di antara kecerdasan emosi dan tekanan kerja. Keputusan Analisis Regresi Pelbagai menunjukkan nilai pekali korelasi empat dimensi dalam kecerdasan emosi terhadap niat berhenti kerja adalah positif dan signifikan. Manakala hubungan dengan tekanan kerja menunjukkan pekali korelasi yang positif dan tidak signifikan.
