Abstract
  • Program Pertukaran Jarum dan Picagari (NSEP) telah dilaksanakan mulai tahun 2006 bagi mencegah jangkitan HIV/AIDS dalam kalangan pengguna dadah secara suntikan (IDU) di Malaysia. Walaupun kewujudannya telah mengubah amalan berisiko IDU, namun terdapat beberapa cabaran yang dihadapi oleh IDU untuk terus mengekalkan tingkahlaku selamat. Kajian kualitatif ini adalah bertujuan untuk mengenalpasti cabaran yang dihadapi oleh IDU yang menerima perkhidmatan NSEP di Pusat Sehenti IKHLAS, Lorong Haji Taib, Kuala Lumpur. Temubual mendalam dengan menggunakan soalan semistruktur telah dijalankan ke atas 13 orang responden yang dipilih secara persampelan bertujuan mulai bulan Jun 2007. Hasil kajian mendapati cabaran yang dinyatakan oleh responden untuk mengurangkan tingkahlaku berisiko ialah (1) kesulitan apabila berhadapan dengan sindrom tarikan, (2)kesukaran membawa peralatan menyuntik, (3) tarikan sosial ahli IDU, (4) sikap IDU dan (5) keengganan menggunakan kondom. Kajian mencadangkan perlunya lebih banyak IDU dirujuk ke program terapi gantian Methadone di samping pengurusan kes yang lebih mantap untuk memenuhi keperluan sebenar IDU dalam usaha mengurangkan tingkahlaku berisiko.
