This study investigates the application of the ADDIE model in the design and implementation of educational tourism curricula collaboratively developed by universities and primary and secondary schools in China. Using Shandong Vocational and Technical University of International Studies as a case, the research adopts a mixed-methods approach that combines semi-structured interviews and post-course questionnaires. Findings confirm that the ADDIE model enhances curriculum structure, clarifies learning objectives, and supports the development of key student competencies, particularly in intercultural understanding, critical thinking, and teamwork. Teachers affirmed a strong alignment between course design and students’ learning needs. The study further highlights the pedagogical value of integrating thematic modules with task-based learning, while emphasizing the importance of ongoing technological innovation and improvements in assessment mechanisms. These insights offer valuable theoretical and practical guidance for the structured development of educational tourism curricula in cross-institutional and multicultural contexts.
