Abstract
  • Regular physical activity is essential for maintaining good health and well-being. However, the majority of adolescents worldwide, are not engaging in sufficient exercise. The physical fitness of teenagers is related to the future of a country and nation. In this study, The motivation questionnaire of Sport Motivation Scale-6 was used to investigate the motivation of Chinese male and female college students to participate in sports to assess the differences in sports motivation factors between male and female college students. A total of 145 valid questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS. The results showed that both male and female college students were positively motivated to participate in sports, and men tended to derive more enjoyment from sports and showed higher levels of intrinsic motivation.
