Abstract
This study presents a bibliometric analysis of research on digital storytelling (DST), focusing exclusively on its application within English language education (ELE). Guided by the PRISMA framework, a total of 344 documents indexed in the Scopus database were identified and analyzed. Two research questions informed the review, examining yearly publication trends, geographic hotspots of research activity, country-level contributions based on citation impact, international collaborations, and the leading journals publishing work related to DST in ELE. To ensure a comprehensive performance analysis, Microsoft Excel, Tableau, and VOSviewer 1.6.20 were employed to generate descriptive statistics and visualize collaboration networks among countries. Findings reveal a consistent upward trajectory in DST-related publications, indicating a growing scholarly interest in integrating DST into language learning practices. The United States, Taiwan, and Spain emerged as the top contributing countries, both in terms of publication volume and citation influence. Additionally, 17 countries demonstrated active international collaboration, highlighting the global engagement surrounding DST research. The review also identifies the top 10 journals publishing the highest number of DST-related studies, with several originating from EFL contexts, reflecting expanding international participation. Overall, this study provides a consolidated overview of the publication landscape of DST in ELE, offering valuable insights to guide future research.
