Abstract
This paper mainly analyzes the cultural information transmission and cross-cultural communication of Chinese traditional patterns in luxury ready-to-wear design from the perspective of semiotic theory. The main research object is the Chinese traditional patterns used in luxury ready-to-wear. In order to prove that cross-cultural fashion design has a certain positive effect on cultural information transmission, but also has a certain negative impact, the researchers analyzed the signifier and signified of Chinese traditional patterns in luxury brand ready-to-wear from a semiotic perspective through literature analysis, case study and other methods, revealing its meaning expression and re-creation process as a cultural symbol. The study shows that Chinese traditional patterns have been reinterpreted and translated in luxury ready-to-wear design due to changes in market demand and design context, but in the process of conveying their specific cultural symbolic meaning, some luxury brands have failed to accurately convey it. Therefore, although this phenomenon has promoted the spread of Chinese traditional culture around the world, it may lead to the one-sidedness of symbolic meaning in the process of dissemination, which will have a certain negative impact on cultural inheritance and cultural confidence. This study provides a theoretical basis and reference for further exploring the boundaries of cultural integration and appropriation, aiming to promote the effective and innovative application of Chinese traditional cultural symbols in cross-cultural fashion design.
