Pengaruh gaya keibubapaan terhadap perkembangan kecerdasan emosi murid Iban di sekolah menengah

Abstract
  • Kecerdasan emosi merupakan aspek yang penting dalam kehidupan manusia termasuk murid sekolah. Salah satu faktor pengaruh kecerdasan emosi murid ialah latar belakang kekeluargaan yang berbeza dari aspek gaya keibubapaan. Maka, kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengkaji pengaruh gaya keibubapaan terhadap perkembangan kecerdasan emosi dalam kalangan murid Iban di sekolah menengah. Daripada ini, gaya keibubapaan yang dominan dalam kalangan ibu bapa murid Iban dan perbezaan gaya keibubapaan murid Iban di sekolah menengah mengikut jantina turut dikaji dalam kajian ini. Sampel kajian merangkumi 225 orang murid Iban di sekolah menengah yang berusia 14 hingga 16 tahun. Untuk mengumpulkan data, kajian ini menggunakan kaedah tinjauan melalui soal selidik. Set soal selidik ini terdiri daripada data demografi responden, Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) yang menilai gaya keibubapaan dan Emotional Assessment Scale (AES) digunakan untuk mengkaji kecerdasan emosi responden. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) digunakan untuk menganalisis data kajian. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa gaya keibubapaan autoritatif, autoritarian dan permisif mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan terhadap perkembangan kecerdasan emosi murid Iban di sekolah menengah. Dapatan kajian juga menunjukkan bahawa pengaruh gaya keibubapaan autoritatif dan autoritarian lebih kuat berbanding dengan gaya yang lain. Gaya autoritatif juga merupakan gaya yang dominan dalam kalangan ibu bapa responden. Perbezaan gaya keibubapaan dalam kalangan murid Iban mengikut jantina turut menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan. Maka, hasil kajian ini penting untuk membantu ibu bapa bagi memilih gaya keibubapaan yang sesuai dalam membentuk kecerdasan emosi anak serta memupuk personaliti dan tingkah laku yang positif. Kajian lanjutan boleh dijalankan dengan mengkaji pengaruh lain terhadap emosi remaja seperti faktor guru dan rakan sebaya.
