Abstract
  • Profesion sebagai seorang ahli akademik menyebabkan pensyarah terikat kepada skop tugas yang berkaitan dengan pengajaran dan pembelajaran, penyelidikan, penerbitan, perundingan, dan memberi khidmat kepada masyarakat. Semua skop tugas ini mempunyai beban tertentu yang perlu dicapai. Namun, kadang kala skop tugas tersebut menyebabkan beban berlebihan yang boleh menyebabkan tekanan kepada pensyarah. Kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengenalpasti tahap stres pensyarah Malaysia dan penyebab utama stres di kalangan mereka. Di samping itu, hubungan antara faktor penyebab kepada tekanan pensyarah turut dikaji. Seramai 609 pensyarah dari empat universiti awam Malaysia telah dipilih secara rawak sebagai responden kajian. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa pensyarah di universiti awam Malaysia mengalami stres pada tahap rendah. Tiga faktor utama telah dikenalpasti menjadi kelaziman penyebab tekanan kepada pensyarah ialah faktor universiti, faktor sosial dan faktor individu. Selain itu, beban kerja, persekitaran kerja, jaringan kenalan, kesihatan dan faktor kewangan juga dilihat sebagai kelaziman utama yang menyumbang kepada isu tekanan pensyarah. Hasil kajian ini boleh digunakan untuk menentukan program intervensi yang tepat sebagai strategi mengatasi tekanan dan mengekalkan kebahagiaan para pensyarah di tempat kerja juga dalam kehidupan mereka.
