Abstract
The transfer of training remains a critical concern in organizational learning and development. Despite decades of empirical research, the evolving complexity of training contexts has prompted renewed scholarly attention. This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of global research on transfer of training published between 1909–2025. Using Scopus-indexed data and employing VOSviewer and Publish or Perish software, this review maps the intellectual structure, identifies influential authors, journals, and institutions, and uncovers thematic clusters and emerging trends. The study spans 116 years and collected 2754 documents. The findings indicated that there are six clusters associated with transfer of training at the workplace: 1) determinants of training transfer, 2) AI and immersive technologies for training and skill transfer, 3) cognitive function and training interventions in learning transfer, 4) cognitive function and training interventions in learning transfer, 5) applied learning and simulation in training transfer, and 6) meta-analytic perspectives on motivation and transfer. In addition, several future research questions are proposed for further research directions for scholars.
