Abstract
  • Newborn baby security is critical to not only the reputation of the hospital but also to the peace of mind of everyone there, from new parent to nursing staff. An effective security system needed to tackle the issues of infant abduction or infant-mother mix-up cases. Thus, the virtual indoor positioning and safety monitoring system for the mother and the newborn baby has been introduced in Malaysia’s public hospital named B-Tag&Track®. B-Tag&Track® utilizing and adapting the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology comprising of the tagging apparatus for indoor positioning for the newborn baby, mother, baby cot together with the infant safety system providing real-time location tracking, and monitoring for continuously at 24/7. This paper will discuss about the system as the baseline study to find the alternative solution in improvising and to modernize the safety system currently being practiced at the government hospital, which now implemented at Hospital Banting, Selangor since early 2017.
