Abstract
  • This study examines the significance of alumni feedback in designing and improving the curriculum of higher education programs, with a specific focus on the Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam. Alumni insights were collected from 86 graduates through a structured questionnaire measuring skill attainment, academic staff performance, and the relevance of subjects to current industry demands. The findings highlight the strengths of the programme in fostering professional ethics, core technical competencies, and practical exposure through internships, which were rated highly by respondents. However, gaps were identified in digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and alignment with emerging industry requirements, reflecting the need to integrate contemporary skills such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), sustainability, and innovation into the curriculum. The results informed the redesign of the programme, reducing total credit hours from 130 to 120 while embedding new courses on construction innovation, contract management, and sustainability, as well as enhancing research progression. This study underscores the critical role of alumni feedback as a mechanism for curriculum review, ensuring academic programmes remain relevant, industry-aligned, and responsive to global construction challenges.
