Abstract
  • The relationship between Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is integral to achieving global sustainability. SDGs provide a comprehensive framework for addressing pressing global challenges, while TVET plays a crucial role in building the human capital necessary to attain these goals. This study investigates the potential of enhancing higher vocational teacher education by aligning it with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) through teacher specialization. The research explores the impact of integrating sustainability principles into vocational curricula, aiming to enhance both teacher expertise and student engagement. The findings reveal that aligning higher vocational education with UN SDGs empowers teachers to impart vital global perspectives and skills to students. While challenges such as resource constraints and the need for teacher training exist, collaborative efforts and institutional support are crucial in overcoming them. The study underscores the transformative potential of this integration, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical awareness among students. The research highlights the significance of holistic education and the role of vocational institutions in nurturing a sustainable mindset. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the synergies between vocational education and sustainable development, offering insights for educators, policymakers, and institutions seeking to shape a more sustainable future.
