Abstract
  • The adoption of online auctions has increasingly transformed traditional auction practices, driven by advancements in information technology, e-commerce, and expanding market opportunities. In Malaysia, real estate public auctions are conducted through the E-Auction System of the High Court of Malaya; however, concerns have arisen regarding its impact on auctioneer business operations and the confidentiality of bidders' personal information. This study aims to examine the current practices of real estate e-auctions in Malaysia, with a specific focus on the High Court of Malaya's system. Employing a quantitative research approach, primary data were collected via questionnaires distributed to 214 respondents including the public, bidders, and auctioneers through Google Forms. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, crosstabulation, and content analysis. The findings reveal that although most respondents are aware of the E-Auction System and recognize its utility, many lack comprehensive understanding of its operation. Furthermore, there is a perception that the system requires improvements in auctioneer engagement and expertise to enhance its effectiveness. The study underscores the need for targeted training for auction practitioners and suggests further research into system security and user experience to facilitate broader acceptance and effectiveness of online real estate auctions in Malaysia.
