Abstract
Many youth sports centres in Malaysia lack interactive and visually engaging design features. This limits youth participation and reduces community connection. This study addresses the gap in architectural strategies that attract and retain young users through interactive façades. A qualitative approach was used to compare three major stadiums in Southeast Asia. These include Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Malaysia, Singapore National Stadium, and the Philippine Arena. The analysis focuses on seven façade attributes which are geometric transformation, pattern shape, form, colour, technology, material, and environmental character. Using the Relate Create and Donate engagement theory framework, the study explores how these elements support emotional connection, creative expression, and social contribution. The findings show that adaptable forms, vibrant lighting, and responsive technologies can enhance youth engagement and promote environmental awareness. The study proposes a practical design framework to guide the development of youth sports centres that are meaningful, participatory, and sustainable.
