Abstract
  • People with Disabilities (PwD) are those who struggle to fully engage in society due to a long-term physical, mental, intellectual, sensory, or other handicap. Accessibility is therefore essential for daily life, especially when interacting with the interior and outdoor environs. Given that most public buildings particularly banks, still lack adequate architecture and amenities. Considerable efforts must be made to guarantee that everyone has access to a comfortable setting. The objectives of this research are (i) to identify the facilities provided in the bank for PwD and (ii) to determine the compliance of the disabilities provided as outline in the Malaysian Standard. This research adopts qualitative methodology. The observation including facilities checklist were conducted into three different banks that located at Petaling Jaya, Selangor Malaysia. The result from the observation shows that not all banks provide the facilities for PwD. Other than that, there are facilities provided which are not compliance with the Malaysian Standard of PwD guideline. The findings identified can serve as a reference for design teams as they consideration for future building design
