This paper takes Kunshan, the birthplace of Kunqu Opera, as the research object, through field investigation and literature analysis, discusses the cultural practice function of Kunqu Opera in local society and the construction mechanism of regional cultural identity. The study found that Kunqu Opera has realized the living inheritance of intangible cultural heritage through ritual performances, community education, cultural and tourism integration, and at the same time strengthened the regional identity of Kunshan residents as a "cultural gene". The research suggests improving the modern inheritance system of Kunqu opera through digital innovation and institutional guarantee.
