Abstract
  • Undergraduates in Jiangxi, China, are the subjects of this research exploring the impact of career coaching on their intrinsic motivation as it is included into educational management courses. Data were gathered from 500 undergraduates at several universities in Jiangxi Province using a quantitative research technique and structured surveys. With various degrees of integration among universities, the results showed that 70% of participants had some exposure to career coaching activities inside their educational programs. Results showed that students' levels of intrinsic motivation ranged from moderate to high, and there was a strong positive correlation between career coaching and intrinsic motivation (β = 0.32, p < 0.001). Results from subgroup analyses showed that the impact of career coaching integration on intrinsic motivation varied by demography, with greater relationships seen among female and older students. The advantages of career coaching, such as increased self-awareness and the ability to define and achieve goals, were further highlighted in the qualitative research. Incorporating professional development activities into educational management courses is crucial, as it allows students to follow their passions and achieve their goals, which in turn boosts their engagement, health, and performance in the classroom.
