Abstract
  • This paper investigates the challenges faced by learners of DUE10062 Technical English1, a specialized form of English used in professional and academic contexts, in a Malaysian Polytechnic. Through this study, the key obstacles such as limited vocabulary, comprehension difficulties with technical texts, and the lack of practical application in real-world scenarios are of key concerns. The findings reveal that learners often struggle with the jargon and nuanced language specific to their fields, which can hinder their language learning performance and understanding. The implications of these challenges must be addressed for curriculum development and teaching strategies, emphasizing the need for targeted instructional materials and practices that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical usage. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the complexities of Technical English and offers recommendations for improving learner outcomes in this critical area of communication.
