Abstract
  • Pengalaman tahun pertama adalah menggambarkan pembentukan makna dalam settings akademik dan sosial secara formal dan tidak formal dalam konteks universiti. Penyesuaian akademik, efikasi kendiri akademik dan hubungkaitan fakulti memainkan fungsi penting dalam meramalkan pencapaian akademik serta niat pelajar untuk berterusan dalam pengajian. Kajian berkenaan dengan penyesuaian akademik dalam konteks pelajar tahun pertama masih belum berkembang di Malaysia, terutamanya melibatkan pelajar daripada etnik yang berbeza. Kajian bertujuan mengenal pasti hubungan antara penyesuaian akademik dengan efikasi akademik dan hubungkaitan fakulti di kalangan pelajar Cina tahun pertama di UKM. Kaedah tinjauan melibatkan 110 orang pelajar Cina tahun pertama di UKM. Instrumen kajian mengadaptasi soal selidik daripada Student Adaptation College Questionnaires (SACQ), College Academic Self-Efficacy Scale (CASES) dan Faculty Connectedness untuk mengkaji tahap penyesuaian akademik, efikasi kendiri akademik serta hubungkaitan fakulti. Hasil kajian memaparkan mempunyai hubungan positif antara penyesuaian akademik dengan efikasi kendiri akademik (r=0.47, p<0.05 dan hubungkaitan fakulti (r=0.50, p<0.05) dalam kalangan pelajar Cina tahun pertama di UKM. Hasil kajian ini boleh memanfaatkan kaunselor dan pensyarah semasa bekerjasama dengan pelajar tahun pertama yang mengalami masalah penyesuaian.
