Abstract
  • ASEAN ditubuhkan pada Ogos 1967 hasil dari persefahaman lima buah negara berjiran bagi menjaga kepentingan bersama, baik itu dari segi keselamatan mahu pun kepentingan perdagangan. Ini kerana pada ketika itu lima negara berjiran ini menghadapi ancaman komunis dan hubungan dua hala yang tegang antara satu sama lain. Artikel ini membincangkan latar yang membawa kepada penubuhan ASEAN, faktor-faktor yang mendorong penubuhannya, dan perkembangannya sebagai sebuah pertubuhan serantau.
