Abstract
  • Regional development disparities play a critical role in enhancing national productivity. In the context of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur emerges as the primary economic nucleus, while urban centers such as Penang, Johor Bahru, and Selangor function as secondary cities that facilitate regional economic activities. Assessing disparities within these secondary cities may present challenges; however, the advent of SmartPLS, with its Multi Group Analysis (MGA) module, offers the potential to leverage demographic location as distinct urban city classifications. Regrettably, if the disparities among secondary urban cities are minimal, the researcher may encounter singularity errors. Consequently, control variables will be employed to evaluate whether these secondary urban cities exhibit comparably insignificant characteristics in relation to a selected city serving as the baseline. Therefore, minimal regional development disparities are identified by analyzing the insignificance of the control variable as evidence.
