Penerokaan kualitatif terhadap halangan penglibatan orang kurang upaya dalam sukan

Abstract
  • Penglibatan Orang Kurang Upaya (OKU) dalam sukan mempunyai cabaran yang tersendiri berbanding orang biasa. Banyak faktor penghalang yang menjadi halangan dalam penglibatan tersebut. Kajian kes ini bertujuan untuk melihat faktor penghalang utama penglibatan Orang Kurang Upaya dalam sukan. Satu temu bual telah dijalankan terhadap empat orang atlet OKU yang telah mengikuti Sukan Paralimpik (boling padang, memanah, boling dan powerlifting). Temu bual telah di transkrip secara verbatim dan dapatan telah dibahagikan kepada tema. Terdapat lima faktor utama yang menjadi faktor penghalang penglibatan golongan OKU dalam menceburi sukan iaitu alatan sukan, masa, kesihatan, fasiliti dan polisi. Pihak berwajib perlu mencari pelapis atlet OKU dengan mengadakan pelbagai program untuk menarik minat penglibatan golongan OKU ini. Peluang dan layanan yang sama seperti atlet normal perlu diberi kepada golongan OKU agar jurang perbezaan antara golongan ini dapat diminimumkan.
