Abstract
  • This research methodology explores the design of ceramic tea utensils depicted in Song Dynasty tea paintings. This study aims to identify and classify the different types of ceramic tea utensils represented in Song Dynasty tea paintings, analyse the design characteristics and aesthetic principles of these representations, and explore the cultural and social significance of ceramic tea utensils in Song Dynasty society. Data collection is conducted through document collection and unstructured observation, focusing on four themes. Eight tea paintings from the Song Dynasty depicting ceramic tea utensils are selected for visual and cultural analysis, revealing their complex design features, symbolic meanings, and cultural connotations. The aesthetic principles of ceramic tea utensil design in Song Dynasty tea paintings reflect the unique cultural atmosphere and aesthetic preferences of the time, characterized mainly by a simple and rustic aesthetic, the use of biomimetic design, the combination of practicality and beauty, and the unity of cultural connotation and aesthetic mood.
