Abstract
  • Malaysia, a multiethnic nation, has implemented a "unified education policy" since its independence. Through decades of efforts by successive generations of Malaysian Chinese, the country has developed into the only nation outside China that maintains a comprehensive Chinese-language education system. The Chinese (KSSM) series, compiled in accordance with the 2017 Secondary School Chinese Curriculum Standard issued by the Malaysian Ministry of Education, have been widely used in secondary schools in Malaysian. This textbook series serves as a primary representation of the Malaysian government's curricular design and content selection for Chinese language education. This study systematically analyzes traditional Chinese cultural elements and their distinctive characteristics presented in Chinese (KSSM), with particular focus on their impact on enhancing cultural identity among Chinese students. While acknowledging the significant role of Chinese education in inheriting traditional Chinese culture within Malaysia, this study further proposes strategies for achieving cultural integration. These strategies aim to promoting the development of traditional Chinese culture while promoting intercultural exchange and mutual learning.
