Abstract
Financial management is a key factor in ensuring the sustainability, accountability, and quality of education provided by education institutions. Despite its clear importance, financial management in the education sector especially within religious education institutions often receives limited attention. This study investigates the extent to which registered private tahfiz schools in Malaysia practice effective financial management. It emphasizes the role of sound financial planning, budgeting, and transparency in supporting institutional goals, enhancing the effective and efficient use of resources, and maintaining stakeholder trust. The study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing a closed-ended questionnaire distributed to school founders and management staff. The analysis focuses on primary and secondary tahfiz institutions registered with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and State Islamic authorities. The findings aim to contribute to the improvement of financial governance in the tahfiz education sector in Malaysia and support policymakers in fostering a sustainable and high-quality educational environment to produce competent huffaz.
