Abstract
Most research on Dong costumes focus on its historical evolution, aesthetic features and cultural connotation. However, very few researchers had identified Dong’s aesthetic analysis on its costume, particularly on their belly wrap worn among the women. Therefore, this research aims to examine the profound elements of Dong’s belly wrap which is an important component that defines the identity of Dong women. This descriptive research used qualitative data that were collected through visuals like photograph, video recordings from documents, museum visits. The data is also supported by documented writings as the secondary data. Through aesthetic morphology analysis introduced by Thomas Munro, it will break the belly wrap into two components, enabling the researcher to closely examine each part profoundly. The results from this research revealed that the belly wrap reflects the Dong’s aesthetics and heritage which has created the identity of Dong’s women. The outcome of this research can be used to provide important reference for future research in related areas
