Abstract
  • Chinese marine folk art modeling is a broad and diverse field, with different forms and styles of expression in different regions. The so-called flat modeling is a two-dimensional plane work composed of two elements, length and width, created by folk artists in coastal areas, whose expressive themes and modeling styles are related to the sea. These works usually depict themes such as marine life, fishermen's life, marine legends and myths, marine flora and fauna, etcetera, and use traditional craft techniques such as painting, embroidery and paper-cutting, which preserves the simplicity and primitive charms of folk art. While exhibiting China's maritime culture, these works also reflect the attitudes and aesthetic concepts of the people of China's coastal areas.
