Abstract
This study aims to explore the perspectives of older adults on using TikTok, a popular social media platform, within the context of Malaysia. While TikTok is widely embraced by younger generations, older Malaysians face distinct challenges and concerns when engaging with the app. These concerns are shaped by broader social, cultural, and generational dynamics, often leaving older adults feeling disconnected from the digital conversations that define modern culture. This research focuses on elderly individuals residing in the Klang Valley region, a diverse area where generational and cultural differences are particularly pronounced. A total of 50 participants were invited to share their personal experiences with TikTok, and their insights were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings provide a valuable understanding of the barriers and opportunities for older adults in engaging with TikTok, offering practical recommendations for businesses and retailers who use the platform for marketing. By bridging generational gaps, the study highlights the potential for TikTok to foster more inclusive digital spaces for all age groups.
