Abstract

Abstract: Research related to inculcation of 21st century skills in sixth form (equivalent to GCE A-level) biotechnology were seldom conducted in Malaysia. This pilot study was carried out to investigate the perception of students using the biotechnology module, M-Biotek-STEM (MBS) to foster the 21st century skills, digital era literacy skills and inventive skills. A survey was conducted with 12 students, aged 17-18 years old, from a Form 6 College (Kolej Tingkatan 6) in Kinta Utara district, Perak. The instrument used was T6-KA21 questionnaire. The results were analysed with one-way ANOVA. Results showed that there were no significant effect between sex and lower secondary examination (PMR) Science score towards the inculcation of 21st century skills in biotechnology topic. Results also showed that the students averagely agreed that the MBS module was able to foster digital era literacy skills and the inventive skills in longer period of time.
