Abstract
  • This study aimed to explore the level of media students’ awareness of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and to analyze their perceptions of their future career prospects in light of these technologies. A comparative approach was adopted between media students in Palestine and Malaysia. The study employed a descriptive-analytical method, utilizing a questionnaire to collect quantitative data, complemented by semi-structured interviews to support the qualitative dimension. The study population consisted of 582 students from five selected universities. A systematic sample of 232 participants was chosen from which 212 valid responses were retrieved for analysis. The findings revealed that the students’ level of awareness of AI technologies was high, with statistically significant differences between Malaysian and Palestinian university students in favor of the Malaysian universities. This difference is attributed to the availability of digital infrastructure and institutional support. Furthermore, the results indicated a positive correlation between a higher level of AI awareness and more optimistic perceptions of future career prospects, particularly among postgraduate students and those who had received relevant training or coursework. The study recommends integrating AI-related concepts into media curricula and providing practical training opportunities to enhance students’ readiness for the rapidly evolving job market.
