Abstract
  • The National Construction Policy (NCP) 2030 is a fundamental initiative by the Malaysian government aimed at transforming the construction industry towards digitalization and sustainable development. Serving as a comprehensive guide for both public and private sectors, the policy outlines strategic directions to achieve inclusive growth by 2030, anchored in six key thrusts. This research employs a quantitative approach to determine the engagement of Malaysian contractors in the implementation of NCP 2030 and to find out the expected outcomes. Data were collected from 113 contractors, representing various registration grades and states across Malaysia. The findings reveal that contractors are moderately involved across all six thrusts, highlighting policy areas that require targeted interventions. This moderate engagement suggests both opportunities and challenges for policymakers in enhancing contractor engagement. Through ranking and mean score analysis, the study identifies specific thrusts that may require additional focus to enhance contractor participation in realizing the policy's objectives. Notably, technology adaptation and adoption emerged as the most promising outcome by 2030, underscoring the sector's strong emphasis on integrating modern and digital technologies.
