Abstract
  • The purpose of this paper is to present an analysis of the stereographic projection within the artistic creation of a Malaysian artist, Chin Kong Yee (b.1973), and the graphical methods used to visually compose his artworks. Highlighting this vibrant interface between this branch of orthographic projections and art exemplifies his numerous and distinctive aesthetic creations and paintings. There is little known within the local art community about this type of work especially the stereographic projection applied to canvas. The local community of landscape artists use the principles of linear perspective of one-two vanishing point for the composition of their artworks, there is no other single artist like Kong Yee who uses the stereographic projection to map his surrounding landscape. The ideas discussed in this paper can enhance the understanding of Kong Yee’s works and stimulate an interest in arts in general.
