Abstract
  • Perbincangan dan debat mengenai konsep pembangunan politik oleh para sarjana telah bermula sejak tahun 1950-an lagi. Antara sarjana terkemuka yang menulis dan membahaskan konsep ini adalah seperti Samuel Huntington, Fred Riggs, Gabriel Almond, G. Bingham Powell, Lucian Pye, Sidney Verba dan ramai lagi. Setiap sarjana mempunyai tafsiran dan takrifan yang tersendiri tentang pembangunan politik. Oleh sebab itulah, konsep pembangunan politik mempunyai pelbagai tafsiran yang berbeza. Bagi kebanyakan sarjana, pembangunan politik bermaksud suatu proses perubahan yang berlaku dalam sesebuah negara yang mana perubahan tersebut mesti melibatkan perubahan kepada yang lebih baik. Artikel ini membincangkan kepelbagaian pandangan sarjana tentang pembangunan politik dan merumuskan konsep Huntington adalah lebih sesuai untuk menilai pembangunan politik di negara-negara sedang membangun.
