Abstract
  • Malaysia as a maritime nation was inevitable to ensure that the maritime security within the sovereignty from any external threat. Other than that, cooperative maritime security effort among the neighbouring state is necessary for enforcing the terrorist attacks to disrupt the potential development of the economy in the SCS. This close collaboration is required amongst all involving country in order to reduce and to prevent the Transnational Organized Criminal group activity within the SCS. Malaysia among the littoral states within the SCS have the responsible to contribute towards the SCS maritime security. There are two main objectives of this research are; (1) Examine Malaysia contribution towards the SCS in maritime security; (2) To Analyses Malaysia cooperation maritime security effort with other countries. This research had applied the Security theory by Barry Buzan. The research methodology has applied the qualitative method using secondary sources. The results of the research are as follows; (1) Malaysia contribution towards the SCS maritime security including, contribute by fighting the transnational crime and piracy within its country and avoiding from spread to the SCS waters, modernization their RMN and collaboration with other neighbouring countries to combating transnational crime, sea piracy and robbery, assist in SAR operation and assist in protection of SCS marine pollution and  providing safety navigation;  (2) The contribution of Malaysia towards SCS maritime security also including by its cooperation effort within ASEAN members, China and multilateral cooperation with other countries.
