Abstract
  • As global concerns about climate change intensify, organizations are increasingly recognizing the need to engage in carbon mitigation efforts. This conceptual paper explores the roles of organizational involvement and risk management in driving effective carbon mitigation strategies. This study will explore this topic and looked at organization’s involvements and Risk management influence on carbon accounting implementation and as an outcome will influence the carbon performance. Carbon accounting is the process of measuring, tracking, and managing a company's carbon emissions to assess its environmental impact and support efforts to reduce its carbon footprint. Carbon performance refers to effectiveness of an organization manages and reduces its carbon emissions. Organizations play a crucial role in addressing climate change. Governments and corporations must take responsibility for their carbon emissions and actively reduce their impact. Accountants play a key role in carbon accounting, but face challenges due to lack of support or resistance from other employees and higher managements. This research was conducted using questionnaire method to collect data from organizations registered under Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers obtain ISO14000 status. An online survey participated by 150 organization registered under Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers obtain ISO14001 status. Data analysis using SPSS version 25 and Smart pls 4.0 software. In conclusion, the effective implementation of carbon accounting, shaped by organizational involvement and robust risk management, empowers organizations to proactively manage their carbon emissions. Businesses can not only mitigate risks but also drive meaningful reductions in their carbon footprint. This strategic approach ultimately positions organizations as leaders in the fight against climate change, contributing to a healthier planet for future generations
