Abstract
  • Pengembangan dalam konteks kepuasan tertunda adalah penting kerana kanak-kanak sering kali tidak mempunyai kesabaran yang cukup. Kemampuan kanak-kanak untuk melaksanakan pengawalan diri bergantung kepada kebolehan mereka mengawal tingkah laku demi mendapatkan ganjaran tertentu pada masa akan datang. Kepuasan tertunda, iaitu kemampuan menahan godaan untuk ganjaran segera demi ganjaran yang lebih besar pada masa hadapan. Penangguhan kepuasan telah terbukti berkaitan dengan prestasi akademik yang lebih tinggi, keterampilan sosial yang lebih baik, dan kesejahteraan emosi yang lebih stabil. Tugas marshmallow sering digunakan untuk menilai keupayaan ini. Faktor seperti kawalan diri dan fungsi eksekutif memainkan peranan utama. Faktor individu seperti kawalan diri dan fungsi eksekutif memainkan peranan penting, tetapi pengaruh sosial seperti rakan dalam konteks kerjasama juga tidak boleh diabaikan. Kanak-kanak belajar menangguhkan kepuasan dalam konteks saling kebergantungan sosial dan kumpulan. Pemahaman tentang kerjasama antara kanak-kanak dengan rakan dalam perkembangan kepuasan tertunda memberikan pandangan yang penting untuk pendidik, ibu bapa, dan penggubal dasar untuk menggalakkan hasil positif dalam perkembangan akademik, sosial, dan emosi kanak-kanak.
