Abstract
  • Setu Babakan (setu or situ means small lake), is a residential area located in Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa District, South Jakarta. Setu Babakan is a village area designated by the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta as a place for continuous conservation and development of Betawi Culture. The Jakarta government is currently trying to preserve Betawi culture, which is slowly fading amidst the progress of the modern era. One of the preservation efforts is to create a cultural tourism area in Setu Babakan, South Jakarta. This research is to find out what are the resistance forms that occur in the Betawi Cultural Village, Setu Babakan, Jakarta. This research uses ethnographic methodology. For the forms of resistance in my research, I divide it in three (3) outlines namely closed (quiet) resistance, semi-open resistance and open resistance. (Bloch in Scott, 1993: 323). From my research results, I can conclude that many forms of resistance that emerged in the Betawi Cultural Village  in Setu Babakan, Jakarta are forms of semi-open resistance, namely in the form of: Home Architecture (No Betawi nuances); Refusing Assistance in Renovating Houses to Betawi Nuance; and Refusing the appearance of Non-Betawi Art Studio in the Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village. While in my opinion there is only one form of closed resistance that is: refusing to Follow the Local Wisdom Values of the Betawi Community in the Setu Babakan UN Area which is carried out by several community members who live in the Betawi Cultural Village Area of Setu Babakan.
