Abstract
  • Early childhood education in China started later compared to the West. Since China's reform and opening, the introduction of Froebel and Montessori early education systems has raised people's awareness of early childhood education, leading to its rapid development throughout the country. In addition, this study adopted a qualitative exploratory approach as the research method, and after careful consideration of the research topic, the researchers chose a case study design. This study uses a holistic case study approach with in-depth interviews with two principals and three administrators of specific kindergartens to answer research questions. In case studies, researchers can delve into specific cases involving different participants to obtain results that are closely related to the research question. As findings, although preschool education has flourished with various theoretical systems and enriched teaching contents, it still faces many challenges due to its rapid development, particularly in managing its internal issues. These challenges have affected the development of kindergartens, which is the focus of this study. As implications, this has highlighted several practical strategies used by principals and administrators to address contextual challenges in a selected private kindergarten in Shandong Province, China.
