Abstract
  • The current study's goal is to evaluate effect of the badminton module which developed by using the cooperative learning-Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) in improving the motivation and self-confidence among secondary school students. This quasi-experimental study involved thirty-five students in the treatment group used a STAD cooperative learning badminton module and thirty-three students in the control group used the traditional teaching method. After six weeks of intervention, a better result achieved by the treatment group in improving the motivation and self-confidence as evidenced by the difference mean score from the pre-test and post-test compared to the control group. The improvement of the treatment group reached 26.05% for motivation and 16.17% for self-confidence. However, the improvement of the control group for motivation is 6.51% and 5.91% for self-confidence. Furthermore, the results from the post-test revealed that using the STAD-cooperative learning badminton module during learning enhanced the motivation and self-confidence compared to the control group. The difference in the post-test between the treatment group and control group reached 19.88% for motivation and 8.54% for self-confidence. Therefore, the use of the STAD-cooperative learning badminton module in learning have given a better effect in meeting the motivational and self-confidence needs of secondary school students.
