Abstract
  • To gain a deeper understanding of the global status and emerging trends in research on burn compression garments, and to objectively reflect the scientific capabilities and influence of countries, institutions, and individuals involved in this research, a statistical analysis was conducted using bibliometric methods on relevant literature from the Web of Science Core Collection spanning 1994 to 2023. The results indicate a global upward trend in publications on burn compression garments, with the United States leading in publication volume and international collaborative contributions. Hong Kong Polytechnic University ranks first in both total publication volume and number of first-author publications, while the University of Washington leads in total citations, and Heriot-Watt University ranks highest in citations of first-author publications. Key journals in this field include BURNS, JOURNAL OF BURN CARE & RESEARCH, and PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY, with BURNS journal having the highest average citation rate. From a disciplinary perspective, SURGERY, DERMATOLOGY, and CRITICAL CARE MEDICINE are the top three fields in related research. In terms of category, Medicine accounts for 60% of the top 10 disciplines; from a scientific hierarchy perspective, Basic and Technical Sciences dominate, while publications in Engineering Sciences require enhancement. Notable scholars with high citation frequencies in related publications include L Macintyre from Heriot-Watt University, A. Anzarut from the University of Alberta, and L.H. Engrav from the University of Washington. In terms of research frontiers, advancements in the fabric properties of burn compression garments represent a focal point of current research.
