Abstract
  • Uzbekistan’s economy has doubled in recent years, contributing to poverty reduction. However, poverty remains high and is expected to rise due to factors such as climate change, the war in Ukraine and poor governance. This paper examines achievements and challenges in poverty reduction using secondary data from grey and academic literature. The study concludes that eliminating corruption and nepotism and reforming the education sector is crucial for poverty alleviation and sustainable economic growth, given ongoing issues such as rising inequality, dependence on remittances, regional disparities, and high unemployment. Overall, the article provides insights into Uzbekistan’s economic growth and poverty reduction strategies, stressing the need for sustained efforts to address remaining challenges.
