Abstract
This study systematically analyses the transformation of traditional patterns into modern designs. It explores their application in the context of China's 'national design trends', with a particular focus on their commercial value, using the framework of emotional design theory. Through qualitative research methods such as image collection, interviews and formal analysis, the study systematically collected and analyzed 36 traditional patterns closely related to and driving national design trends in China. These patterns were analyzed within the framework of emotional design theory: the material level (visceral layer), the social level (behavioral layer), and the spiritual level (reflective layer). It shows how traditional patterns and modern design merge to create a competitive advantage. This integration promotes a dual synergy between cultural heritage and business development. The study analyses the modern design of traditional patterns guided by national design trends and provides valuable insights into other innovative design practices influenced by these trends.
