Abstract
  • The purpose of the study is to identify the current issue in national evaluation standard of Physical Education in Malaysia and the way forward through the experienced physical education teachers from the southern region of peninsular Malaysia. It is also to suggest a set of tests that can be applied to further enhanced the current national evaluation standard to solve the issues that faced by the teachers and students. The study method exercised in this study involving this following data gathering instruments: a survey to 10 experienced physical education teachers from the southern region of peninsular Malaysia by using interview method. Interviews were conducted with key informants to validate the issues that face by the teachers and in need to be solved. The results of the study revealed that the weaknesses and issues of the national evaluation standard of Physical Education can be categorized into 4 major categories which are teachers lack knowledge in conducting the evaluation, insufficient and less maintenance equipment, little concern of physical health among the students and teachers and procedures that are hard to be executed. With issues that identified through the analysis, the results of this study should help to improve the quality and the validity of the national evaluation standard of physical education in Malaysia.
