Abstract
  • Mangroves are a group of trees and shrubs found in the intertidal zone, being the habitat for various aquatic living things and also provide protection to coastal land. Despite the numerous importance of mangrove ecosystem, mangrove area has been degenerating since the last few decades. Therefore, essential information and up-to-date data are required in managing mangrove areas to ensure its sustainability. In this study, remote sensing data and vegetation indices using Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) techniques were used to analyse and evaluate the distribution density of mangrove forests at Kuala Selangor Nature Park in 2017 and 2018. The results of distribution density evaluation of mangrove forests in Kuala Selangor Nature Park showed that there is an unwanted change leading to deforestation within that period of time.
