Abstract
  • Learning management systems (LMSs) or course management systems (CMSs) have proliferated in university education in the last few years. The COVID-19 epidemic enforced many Middle East and North African (MENA) universities to move to CMSs in short period of time in the last year. Open source LMSs, such as, Moodle, have simplified the deployment stage of these technologies. These systems are cross platform approaches. They can operate in multi-devices, such as, smartphones, tables, PCs and even smart-TVs. In this work, a measurement study has been conducted to show the quality of experience (QoE) between universities students in MENA. A survey has been distributed in the Engineering faculty to indirectly assess the deployment of LMSs in MENA. The harvested results have shown three main points. First, the system needs more functionality to cover all the requirement of the students. Second, the IT department of the university has to make short videos on how to use the system in convent way. Finally, the smartphone App version requires more functionalities to be the same as the web version.
