The contribution of transformational leadership and innovation practices in fostering policemen performance of Abu Dhabi Police

Abstract
  • Leadership is one of the success factors of police departments, whereas innovation helps police fight crimes and improve their performance. The aim of this study is to explore how transformational leadership fosters innovation practices and the performance of policemen in Abu Dhabi. Qualitative methodology is adopted to answer research questions. Interviews are a data collection method. A sample of 15 police commanders participated in answering interview questions to make the final conclusions and recommendations. The results from interview transcripts showed that transformational leadership has a substantial impact on the performance of policemen as well as fostering efforts to implement innovation practices in law enforcement. Based on this result, this study recommends that law enforcement agencies and police departments in Abu Dhabi should prioritize the development of transformational leadership skills among their commanders in order to enhance the performance of their officers and encourage innovation within the department. Additionally, ongoing training and support should be provided to ensure that these leadership strategies are effectively implemented and sustained. By investing in the development of transformational leaders, the ADP force can continue to improve their overall effectiveness and maintain a high level of service to the community.
