Abstract
  • This study tried to analyse the influence of integrity on performance of hospital employees at Hospital X in Padang City, Indonesia. The issues of integrity often became a problem in public service and performance among employees, especially in public institutions. The low level of integrity was often assumed to be the cause of the low of public services quality in public institutions, including hospital where this study had been conducted. This was a quantitative study and the population in this study consisted of 198 non-medical staffs at Hospital X in Padang City. The samples in this study were determined through proportionate stratified random sampling technique and consisted of 135 of non-medical staffs at the Hospital X. Data were collected with questionnaires and analysed with multiple linear regression test. The results of this study showed that the five sub-variables of integrity (honesty, commitment, trustworthiness, consistency, and responsibility) simultaneously influenced on employee performance of non-medical staffs at Hospital X in Padang City. However, partially, the sub-variable of honesty had no significant influence on the staffs performance. Besides, the sub-variables of commitment, trustworthiness, consistency and responsibility had a significant influence on the staffs performance of the Hospital X. According to the findings of this study, it is highly recommended that institutional managers make efforts in various ways to further improve the integrity of their employees, so that service quality could also be further improved.
