Abstract
  • The implementation of ISO 9001 is crucial for enhancing management efficiency and operational effectiveness within Malaysian construction companies. This study aimed to assess ISO 9001 implementation among Malaysian construction firms, focusing on its extent, implementation barriers, and performance outcomes. A questionnaire survey was conducted among G4 to G7 contractors in Johor, Malaysia, with data analyzed using mean score. Findings indicate that contractors prioritize the planning phase of projects, while significant barriers to effective ISO 9001 implementation include resistance from traditional top management. Key performance indicators highlight improvements in service and product quality as pivotal to successful implementation. This research contributes guidelines and raises awareness regarding the importance of ISO 9001 implementation in the construction sector.
